Day two of finals at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.

Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Malaysia stood atop the podium on the second day of finals at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup in Bangkok, Thailand; following their respective pistol finals.

In the men's 10m air pistol final, DPR Korea's Rim Ryu Song claimed gold - finishing strong to defeat Valeriy Rakhimzhan of Kazakhstan.

Rakhimzhan seemed on their way to victory - leading comfortably with six shots to go - but faced challenges under pressure, going behind with two series to go.

Rim took control from there and with a crucial miss from the Kazakh in his last shot, the Korean cruised to victory with a total of 239.9 to Rakhimzhan's 235.8.

Pham Quang Huy, who won the mixed team event yesterday for Vietnam, took bronze.

The women's final was won by Syasya Nadiah Binti Mohd Arifin Nurul, who much like Rim, had a commanding conclusion to the contest as her opponents faltered.

The Malaysian was fourth with five series to go, but benefitted from difficult results from Vietnam's Thu Vinh Trinh to move into second, before taking a narrow lead when Cheng Yen-Ching of Chinese Taipei shot for a score of 8.7 and Kazakhstan's Irina Yunusmetova went from top to eliminated in fourth in the space of two shots.

While the Vietnamese was a surprise elimination for the bronze, Cheng and Nurul exchanged the lead, until two low scores of 9.0 and 7.8 for the Taiwanese athlete saw the totals finish at 239.3 to 234.3.

It was a colossal gap that did not tell the whole story of the final, but also showed the brilliance of Nurul, who scored 10.5 and above in all of her last four shots.

In the men's junior 10m pistol final, Kirill Tsukanov of Kazakhstan edged out DPR Korea's Ho Un Song for the gold - staging a comeback after being 4.7 points behind at the end of the first stage.

He finished on 237.3 to Ho's 237.1, completing his comeback with his final shot. Tsukanov's teammate Kirill Fedkin completed the podium.

Finally, Liao Ke Rong of Chinese Taipei won the women's junior 10m pistol final - beating Eshal Misbah of the Maldives by a score of 231.2 to 229.9. Kim Hyon Suk of DPR Korea took bronze.
