China and Chinese Taipei win mixed team titles on last day of Buenos Aires ISSF World Cup

China and Chinese Taipei ended the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires in style, claiming gold medals in the mixed team finals for 10m air pistol and trap.

It was an all-Chinese final in the mixed team pistol event, which saw Ma Qianke and Zhang Yifan defeat Yao Qianxun and individual winner Hu Kai 16-10 in the gold medal match. It was an impressive response from Ma and Zhang who trailed their compatriots 10-6, before winning the next five series to overturn their opponents. It ensured China finished top of the medal table.

An all-Indian bronze medal match saw individual women's winner Inder Singh Suruchi and Saurabh Chaudhary similar overcome their compatriots in the late stages, beating Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh. The teams were stuck at 6-6 before Suruchi and Chaudhary went on an impressive run, winning five out of the six remaining series for the bronze medal.

In the mixed team trap final, Chinese Taipei's Yang Kun-Pi and Liu Wan-Yu defeated Australia's Mitchell Iles and Penny Smith following a shoot-off. Chinese Taipei looked on their way to victory before then, holding a two-shot lead into the final round. However, both Yang and Liu missed while Mitchell and Smith had a clean round. With both teams tied at 45-45 after 50 shots, Yang and Liu survived shot five, while Australia missed.

It was simpler in the bronze medal match, as Italians Diego Valeri and Erica Sessa defeated Kazakhstan's Alisher Aisalbayev and Aizhan Dosmagambetova 44-38. Italy took the lead after round one and extended their lead to three, 10 shots later. In fact, Valeri and Sessa outscored Aisalbayev and Dosmagambetova in every round, eking out their lead to six in the end.

With the ISSF World Cup finished in Buenos Aires, the next leg begins with the Opening Ceremony on 14th April, with finals commencing the following day.
