ISSF is delighted with the confirmation of shooting venues for the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles which ensures that our sport returns to the centre of the event at LA 2028.
Thanks to the hard work of the ISSF team and the spirit of co-operation shown by the LA28 organisers, it will now be possible for shooting sport athletes to directly connect with other sports as well as be reconnected to the unique experience of the Olympic Village and Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Not only does this mean athletes will be close to other events, but close to other athletes; allowing them to live the true Olympic experience and share in the culture of other sportspeople. Our proximity to other sports will attract new audiences in one of the busiest metropolitan areas in the world.
ISSF is delighted that Target shooting will be present at the Long Beach Convention Center in a temporary indoor range in Long Beach which means that, for the first time, the sport will be within walking distance of other Olympic disciplines.
The Shotgun shooting events will be held at the world-famous LA Clays Shooting Sports Park in El Monte, one of Southern California’s premier shotgun ranges. Conveniently located in LA County, the site offers a scenic backdrop for the exciting competitions expected in 2028.
ISSF President Luciano Rossi said: "Following so soon after the announcement that shooting would have a full programme of 15 events and 340 quota places at the LA28 Games, we can all be proud and grateful to see our venues right at the heart of the Olympic experience. With determined efforts from my ISSF colleagues, and thanks to excellent co-operation with LA28 and the IOC, our shooting athletes will get the full Olympic Games experience and be at the heart of the action. I am looking forward to working closely with all stakeholders to deliver an event that showcases our sport in an exciting and engaging way."
Both venues have were officially announced today as part of a broader LA28 venue master plan announcement.
